High-Low Poker

High-Low Poker

HIGH-LOW POKER. Almost any form of Poker may be played "high-low." There is no difference in the original deal and betting, but in the showdown the highest-ranking poker hand and the lowest-ranking poker hand divide the pot equally. If it cannot be divided equally, the high hand receives any odd chip that is left over. Players must decide in advance whether the ace will rank only high, or either high or low at each player's option.

Dealer's Choice
Most Poker games played casually by friendly social groups are "Dealer's Choice" games, under the following rules:
1. Each dealer, as his turn comes, may state the game
which will be played—Draw Poker, Stud Poker, or any form
of either game.

2. If any card is to be wild, the dealer may designate that
card or cards.

3. The next dealer is not bound by the previous dealer's
choice. If a selected game is one which may be passed out,
in the wise of a passed-out hand the same dealer deals again.

4. A dealer is not limited to the most common forms of
Poker, those that have previously been described in these
pages. He may select any of the games described in title fol-
lowing pages, or any game of his invention or knowledge
which is simple enough to be described and understandable
to the other players without too great toss of time.

Spit in the Ocean
Each player antes. After each player has received four face-down cards, as hi Draw Poker, the dealer places one card from the top of the pack face up in the center of the table. This card is wild, and all other cards of the same rank are wild. Each player may use this card as part of his hand. There is a betting interval, followed by a showdown.

VARIATION 1. Instead of one card, the dealer places three cards face up in the center, and each player may select any one of these cards to be the fifth card hi his hand and to be wild, together with every other card of the same rank in his hand.

VARIATION 2. The dealer places only one card hi the center, but after the betting interval each player turns up any one card from his hand and there is another betting interval; then a second card and a betting interval; and so on, until when each player turns up his last face-down card there is a showdown.

Cincinnati
After giving each player five cards as in Draw Poker, the dealer places five cards face down in the center of the table* There is a betting interval as in Draw Poker.

The dealer then turns up one of the center cards, and there is another betting interval; then the second, third, fourth and fifth of these cards, with a betting interval after each.

After the last betting interval there is a showdown & which each player selects any five cards from among the cards dealt to him and the cards on the table to be his poker hand.
